What I'm listening to this year so far

Since the last post was a little heavier and more critical, I decided I should write something a bit more lighthearted. So here are some of the artists I’ve been enjoying recently! There are oh so many more than these, but I’m condensing because I don’t want to write a 30 page blog post at 1AM.

Magdalena Bay

Absolutely love this one, I found them recently at my friend Ava’s recommendation. They’ve kinda got an 80s synthpop/glamrock vibe to them and a few of their songs have been in the rotation quite a lot. Try Vampire in the Corner and Killshot and you’ll see what I mean. I think I wrote code for a collective 100 hours or so while listening to That’s My Floor alone.

David Bowie

A classic, frankly if you don’t know who he is get the hell off my page. Absolutely perfect for driving home at 2am after a long night at the rocket factory.

CASIOPEA

Lovely Japanese jazz band from the 70s, I really enjoy this one while I’m cooking. They made (and continue to make almost 50 years later, shockingly!) really great songs, actually, and it’s always nice to have something more soothing in the rotation.

Chappell Roan

Honestly if you didn’t guess this one I’m surprised, I’m a sucker for some girly gay pop and literally nobody does it better. She’s like a lesbian Madonna and I’m extremely here for it.

Hozier

Also shouldn’t surprise you, I’m a hopeless romantic. I will cry to Like Real People Do until the day I die.

Billie Eilish

Still got a bit of my emo kid past in me, apparently. HMHAS is amazing go listen to it if you haven’t.

Depeche Mode

Listen, my parents were born in the 60s and it shows, but I’m ok with that.

Chloe Moriondo

Manic pixie gay girl vibes, exceedingly me, no notes 10/10.
